An Apple a Day

Click to Buy (Oil 6x6 in)
I love a daily apple with a little salt on the tart ones.  But to be honest I prefer peanut butter.  This painting is on an acrylic panel that I sanded down and then applied a couple of coats of gesso.  I did some research and found others using the acrylic with out problems.  I did a few test panels and found out it was very difficult to scratch off the gesso and water didn't faze it after the gesso was dry.  I believe these panels are better than masonite.  When I had my frame shop I framed several older oil paintings from the Twenties and Thirties and always had to be careful of paint that would flake off especially on the edges.

Jade Plant

Click to Buy    (Oil 8x10 in.)

Several years ago (70's) I painted a large, old jade that had some character. I decided to paint a small one now and every once in a while repaint it to record it's growth. I am hoping that this pathetic thing will develop some character with age.
