This one came a little easier. the colors for the apple in the bowl fell into place. I may try this one again trying to flatten out the shapes. Always trying to loosen up.

Boy is it difficult to stay with it in the summer. Just recently I up dated my blog with a few changes. I added a header and changed a few colors. I also added a page for the figure drawings that I do at a local gallery, and one for the digital drawings I do with ArtRage, and lastly a page for art questions about my methods and madness.

It's been a while since I posted. I've been busy painting but not posting. I was lucky enough to go to a workshop presented by RAM (Regional Art Museum) in Fort Smith Ark. The Artist was Mark Daniel Nelson from the Denver area - it was spectacular. He presented the information each day in short segments with a demo and plenty of time to practice the concepts. Plus lots of info on using Procreate with an ipad pro. Great...Great workshop. RAM was a SUPER Host. best workshop of the five I have attended.

Now a change of direction. I've been attending life drawing session and would like to bring my painting style a little closer to my drawings. (This one is not even close!)
I have been busy with some quick fun sketches to explore color and
composition on 4 X4 coasters. This is the ninth one that I am offering
for sale. I will be posting them daily for a week or so. They are oil
with
Prismacolor accents and line work on blank coasters that I purchased on
Amazon and then gessoed. They have been very helpful in my effort to
paint in a more painterly fashion. I am offering them for $10 dollars
each with no shipping or handling on Daily Paintworks. Check out my gallery. Thanks. (Click to Buy)

Welcome! I am a retired art educator that enjoys painting still lifes. I like to use transparent and opaque oil colors to create abstract compositions with interlocking positive and negative shapes. The paintings are for sale on Daily Paintworks. Please check out my gallery and subscribe below to be notified by email about each new post.
